Tech Support

April 30th, 2006

Was doing a little digging and came across this article which is dead on. This is the truth, and some good tips if you have to call up tech support and get help take the advice.

Be nice. Very true. I would throw in a sub-catagory to being nice. Don’t argue. You are calling tech support because you have a broken pc that you don’t know how to fix. You called a professional. Don’t argue. If you can’t get your email and I tell you it is your firewall causing the problem, don’t tell me it can’t be the firewall. Ninety five percent of the time I’m gonna be correct on that statement, so don’t argue. And I’m done.

MP3 of the Week

April 30th, 2006

Sorry it has been a while since I have posted a song. I got the albums from this band I hadn’t heard of, and I’m hooked. I haven’t been able to put them down. Very catchy pop-ish rock. The lyrics are fantastic. Here is the first track off their self titled freshman album Ok Go.

Funkyhouse.net Updates

April 28th, 2006

So updated the site a bit. Not quite done, but I couldn’t wait anymore. Updated the content, and the look a little bit. Some pages still have to be finished up, that’ll be for the weekend. Let me know what you think.

I would also like to say that I set up dual monitors for my main box. It is very nice I must say. It makes me happy.

EDIT: I should also mention, that if your browser is set to cache webpages, that you might need to update your cache. When you pull up funkyhouse, hit the refresh button and you should be good to go!

MACEO!

April 26th, 2006

Oh wow!! I’m excited now. Maceo is back in the states a little bit and gonna be in Cleveland. I think I should really really go. That would make me happy. Anyone wanna go with? Let me know!

Activist Goose

Not really my strong point, but when the subject matter strikes the right chord, I’ll scratch my balls and stand up.

http://www.eff.org/share/petition/

The link is a little slow right now, looks to be from way too many people trying to sign this petition. It is basically asking congress to stop the RIAA’s lawsuits and instead come up with a viable way for us to download the music legally.

I’ve been trying to sign it, but I think the database is overworked. I’ll be trying again later today, you should too.

To 4AM!

April 21st, 2006

It has been a while since I stayed up late working on webdesign. However I saw something online tonight that inspired me, so I had to sit down and at least get the idea started so it doesn’t disapear on me. Just about ready to impliment it in some testing. It is nice having some ideas to put into my webdesign. But it stinks cause I get home from working on computers all day, and the last thing I want to do is work on computers more.

I had fun tonight goin out the Leo’s Lodge and having a nice huge 32oz beer. Cold and cold, only free would have made it better. I’m going to assume tomorrow night is going to be really nice. I would love to be able to grill, sit outside and drink some beers, maybe even smoke a cigar. But to Hillsdale I go! Those guys are great and I’m always glad to be able to help them out. Should send them an email back, I think I’ll do that now.

Scary

April 7th, 2006

Doing a little ready read today. Came across a couple of interesting articles. Slightly scary articles honestly.

Trouble on the line

So they’re blocking voip, not terribly surprising. The article didn’t mention which US ISP’s are blocking VoIP connections, but I have a decent idea. I’m sure you can guess too. But other than ISPs that are also phone companies who don’t want to lose your phone service, this is also a trend that is going on through the majority of ISPs. The big one is P2P file transfers are being blocked or throttled down. The reason being P2P networks use up a tremendous amount of bandwith. This makes some unhappy customers when they figure out whats going on. I imagine the same thing is gonna be happening with VoIP.

EFF: AT&T forwards all Internet traffic into NSA

Wow. Just wow. Now I’m sure this is an article squirrel is gonna enjoy. And I’m no super lawyer like him. I’m not even a regular lawyer. My knowledge of the law is pretty limited. But I don’t think they would be able to get this far in the legal process without having the hard truth. So I ask, what the fuck?

Cinderella Man

April 7th, 2006

So I watched Cinderella Man tonight. Wow what a fucking great movie! If you haven’t seen it I suggest buying, renting, borrowing, or stealing it so you can see it.

Anyways, it got my noodle thinkin a bit, so I’m still wide away this morning. I’d do something useful, but thats pointless.
